English for Heritage Language Speakers

Native speakers of critical languages are in high demand in the U.S. government. EHLS trains advanced English speakers to be effective communicators and strong candidates for federal jobs.

All EHLS participants receive a full scholarship from the National Security Education Program that includes tuition and a living stipend.

The 2015 EHLS Program is open to native speakers of Amharic, Arabic, Balochi, Bambara, Dari, Hausa, Hindi, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Mandarin Chinese, Pashto, Persian Farsi, Punjabi, Somali, Tajik, Tamashek, Turkish, Urdu, Uzbek or Yoruba.

Applications for the 2015 program are now closed. They were due July 14, 2014.
