During the EHLS Program, you will actively use standard office technology as you work on your professional communication skills.

You will use on a daily basis:

  • Microsoft Office Word and Powerpoint for preparing assignments and presentations
  • Email and internet search engines for communication practice and research
  • Canvas courseware for class work

All scholars are expected to have basic computer skills before starting the program. Take the Technology Skills Self-Assessment to determine if you have the required skills. 

All EHLS scholarship awardees must provide their own personal laptop computer compatible with Georgetown University information technology requirements. Each individual offered a EHLS scholarship will be required to confirm that they possess a laptop computer that confirms with the technical requirements below given that this will be necessary to effectively participate in the EHLS Program. Note that tablets (including iPads, Kindles) and Chromebooks are not permitted in the EHLS Program. Please read this information carefully.  

It is not necessary to possess or obtain a laptop computer with these technical specifications to apply for an EHLS scholarship. One is needed if you are offered and accept a 2025 EHLS scholarship.

Approved Standard Laptop Computers

See Georgetown University’s list of Approved Standard Laptop Computers: https://uis.georgetown.edu/standard-computers/ These have the appropriate specifications to participate in the EHLS Program.
